The Advance Manufacturing Centre (AMC), a world-class industry-led centre designed to allow MNCs and SMEs to pilot and adopt digital technologies needed to remain competitive manufacturers, has achieved two milestones this week.

The IDA announced the appointment of Domhnall Caroll, Former Country Lead in Digital Industries at Siemens, as the AMC’s director. The IDA also revealed that the Swiss automation company ABB Limited will be the key technology partner for the Centre.

Ireland’s manufacturing industry—which includes companies from multiple sectors biopharmaceuticals, medtech, industrial technologies, and more—employs more than 260,000 people.

In recent years, Brexit and Covid-19 have created significant challenges for manufacturing. The success of the AMC, including the assurance that it has adequate and sustained resourcing, is essential for ensuring that Ireland’s manufacturing industry remains competitive for FDI.

The AMC will equip companies with the technologies and best practices needed to transform their business models so that they can rapidly adapt to current and future challenges. Read more here
