Minister Carroll MacNeill Launches AmCham’s 2025 US-Ireland Business Report

AmCham was delighted to have Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, Minister for Health, launch 'AmCham’s 2025 US-Ireland Business Report: ‘Succeeding Together: Driving Transatlantic Innovation and Trade’, in New York, this week.
The launch event took place at the Consulate General of Ireland, New York with more than 150 AmCham members and friends, and celebrated the strength of the two-way Ireland-US business relationship, worth over €1tn annually.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Carroll MacNeill said: “Ireland is the 6th largest investor into the United States, and also the first, the largest, the biggest, on a per capita basis.”
She continued “It really shows the commitment of Irish people and Irish companies to the US, and also the opportunity that the US provides in terms of capital raising and other measures to support Irish businesses coming into the United States.”
Minister Carroll MacNeill highlighted that the Irish Government wants to continue to support Irish companies in the US, but noted that this is also “very much a two-way relationship” noting that we “now have 970 US companies in Ireland, employing nearly 400,000 people directly and indirectly.”
AmCham members, stakeholders and friends, also heard AmCham 2025 Vice President, Mark Cockerill, who attributed much of the success of this relationship to our talented workforce.
He said: “None of this happens without great people. The people who have driven business in both our great countries and continue to be at the heart of this relationship. As our mutual business has evolved, the people have been the foundational blocks to make that happen.”
Speaking about the success of the two-way relationship, Mark said: “The competitive factors that draw US business to Ireland are widely known. Our consistent pro-business policy decisions over decades of government administrations, our skilled workforce with the highest proportion of third-level graduates in the EU, our stable and competitive business environment and our unique position as the only English-speaking, common-law gateway to the EU for the US, all make Ireland a great place to do business. It is often the case that Ireland serves as a critical bridge for US companies, whether to the EU market, or even wider global operations and expansions.”
With strong competitive advantages on both sides of the Atlantic, AmCham CEO, Paul Sweetman noted the continuing growth in the US-Ireland relationship.
He said: “The success is there for both nations and I can’t emphasise that enough. You will read the facts and figures in the report, but also what you will see is the steadfast commitment to growth from both our political leaders and our business leaders in each and every page of the report."
He continued: "And it is remarkable to say, that every year this report has been published, there has been growth in the two-way relationship from the previous year - be that Irish Investment into the United States or US investment into Ireland.”
A huge thank you to the Consul General of Ireland in New York, Helena Nolan, and the team at the Consulate for hosting us for this event.
