Large US Multinationals Could Pay Top-Up Tax in US Earnings Under GILTI Proposal

US multinationals could be subject to a top-up tax on their overseas earnings, under the latest budget proposals published by the US administration.
Under the proposal, the GILTI rate – the minimum tax rate on the overseas earnings of US companies – would rise to a minimum rate of 20 percent.
