The Role: Policy & Advocacy Manager

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day support of several policy-specific membership groups of the Chamber, each comprising business professionals representing US companies in Ireland or subject matter experts drawn from the wider membership and the external policy environment.

  • Manage research into policy issues, working with other team members to advance the interests of Chamber members. Supporting membership group leadership, preparing for committee meetings, keeping meeting records and communicating regularly with committee members on activities, policy items and other relevant information

  • Managing the budgeting, production and dissemination/marketing of policy papers, submissions and position statements; organises activities to support the representation of the Chamber’s business agenda including meetings, conferences, seminars and delegation meetings with Government Departments and Agencies; and supports contributions to internal and external publications. Ensure projects are delivered on time and on-budget.

  • Monitor public policy issues of importance to the American Chamber, including in the national legislative and executive branches, government bodies and public institutions.

  • Meet with key relevant government and agency representatives to help them understand and advocate for policy beneficial to the US-Ireland economic relationship and represent the Chamber at industry gatherings

  • The Policy Manager will have;

    • successfully mastered the various aspects of policies of importance to our members under their portfolio

    • have significantly enhanced their understanding and mastered many elements of such issues and be considered as a key ‘go-to’ point for those policy perspectives

    • educated policymakers and regulators with respect to US-Ireland relations and built strong, respectful relationships

    • helped to elevate the American Chamber’s public policy brand among key stakeholders to a high level

    • demonstrated personal initiative, comprehension, judgment, tenacity and entrepreneurial drive and the ability to think tactically and strategically.

    • ideally approximately 5 years of relevant public policy/research experience

    • experience of public policy in data/digital environment would be an advantage
