The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland welcomed the election by Dáil Éireann today of An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar.
Speaking following the announcement, President of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland James O’Connor said:
“On behalf of the board and the members of the American Chamber I would like to congratulate Mr Varadkar on his election as An Taoiseach and wish him and his Government every success in the future.
There is no doubt that the uncertainty of Brexit and a new US administration means that Ireland has a more important role than ever to play in the US-EU relationship.
As the leadership voice of over 700 US companies with EMEA and International Headquartered Operations in Ireland, the American Chamber of Commerce looks forward to constructively engaging with Mr Varadkar and his Government on the issues of concern to the US FDI sector in Ireland, including future proofing Ireland’s reputation as a great place to live and work, meeting future talent and skills needs in a digital economy, and ensuring we strategically invest in the physical and digital infrastructure capacity required to secure future FDI investment.
As with previous Taoisigh, we look forward to early meaningful engagement with the new Taoiseach.”
