American Chamber Welcomes Limerick County Council support for Northern Distributor road
The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland has today warmly welcomed Limerick County Council’s decision to vary the local area development plan in support of the proposed €150m Northern Distributor road.
Barry O'Sullivan, Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, said, “This decision by Limerick County Council marks a major step forward in progressing the Northern Distributor road project.”
“Our mid-west members have long advocated for the Northern Distributor road, because they recognise that upgrading of our transport infrastructure is critical to improving connectivity and competitiveness, both regionally and nationally. Infrastructure of this scale and importance will also be a key factor in winning the race to retain and attract additional foreign direct investment for the mid-west,” said Mr. O'Sullivan.
The American Chamber believes that addressing specific regional gaps and investing in much needed infrastructure like the Northern Distributor road and the proposed M20 motorway will help connect population centres to industrial clusters, ports and air hubs, which will help to improve overall investment attractiveness, particularly for companies based in the mid-west.
