The American Chamber today welcomed the Government’s planned expansion of Ireland’s global footprint with the announcement of 7 new Embassy or Consulate Missions in Europe, Asia, North Africa, Africa and North America. The American Chamber particularly welcomes the announcement of a new Mission to Los Angeles, which will compliment diplomatic Missions already in place in a significant number of US cities.
According to new research by jobs search engine Indeed, Ireland is becoming a global centre for roles with cross-functional job titles such as Operations Associate (up 121%), Programme Manager (up 118%), Risk Manager (up 101%), Senior Technical Support (up 94%) and Data Analyst (up 70%). In total, vacancies posted on the site classed as ‘Global Business Services roles’ are up 52.3 per cent since the start of 2017.
The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland has called for the EU to intensify negotiations with the US to avoid a tit for tat response to the introduction by the US of trade tariffs in relation to steel and aluminium.
The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland supports American Chamber EU’s call for the EU to receive a permanent exemption from any US government plans to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium. Speaking about the issue, Mark Redmond, Chief Executive of American Chamber Ireland said, “We agree with AmCham EU’s statement that the EU and the US should be working together to tackle issues such as global steel/aluminium overcapacity and unfair trading practices. We also support AmCham EU’s view that with growth on the increase in Europe and the US, now is the time to focus on a positive agenda that further strengthens our economies.
