Over a busy weekend staff and members of the American Chamber joined in a number of activities to celebrate Independence Day.
The festivities began on Friday July 2nd with 400 members attending a gala lunch in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin. The lunch was addressed by Chamber President Lionel Alexander; and the keynote speaker Professor Robert Schmul of Notre Dame University, who provided a lighter look at the July 4th traditions, recounting his personal recollections of what Independence Day means to him.
Guest of Honour US Ambassador Daniel M. Rooney also gave an Independence Day Briefing. All guests were then given a complimentary copy of the Irish Times, which contained the 12 page American Business 2010 Supplement compiled by the Chamber.
On Sunday July 4th, members of the Chamber's US Executive Circle attended a family barbeque hosted by Ambassador Rooney in his Phoenix Park Residence. The Residence was transformed into an American Football Stadium for a game between the ‘Phoenix Park Pirates' and the ‘Dublin 8's', among the interested onlookers was An Taoiseach Brian Cowen T.D.
