800 attend largest event in Chamber History
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and US Ambassador Kevin O'Malley joined Eamonn Sinnott, General Manager of Intel in Ireland and President of the American Chamber and Mark Redmond, CEO of American Chamber to speak to 800 guests today at the Chamber's Thanksgiving lunch in the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Ballsbridge. Attendance at this year's event was the highest ever, reflecting the strength of the business partnership between Ireland and the Unites States, and the fact that more US companies are investing in Ireland and employ more people than ever before.
Eamonn Sinnott, President of the American Chamber said "Collectively, we are responsible for supporting close to a quarter of a million jobs, and contributing €16bn annually to the Irish economy. 2015 was another landmark year for our membership - throughout the year announcement after announcement of expansions and new arrivals by US companies demonstrated yet again Ireland's hard won, extraordinary reputation as the location of choice for US business investment - both new and established. So far this year there have been 60 significant investments announced by US companies in Ireland leading to over 7,000 new jobs for the country.
Taosieach Enda Kenny expressed his thanks to the Irish US relationship stating "the importance of our relationship with the United States cannot be overstated." While Ambassador O'Malley also said "we are no doubt at a very important nexus in the Irish-US Commercial relationship."
As 2015 draws to a close our thoughts move to 2016 and beyond - we need to look at how we harness the power and potential of the extraordinary network of American-Irish centres of excellence, and create the right environment to allow our members attract more global roles and functions to this country.
