Speaking on the announcement, Chief Executive, Mark Redmond said "Ireland has firmly established itself as the gateway to Europe for US business. To maintain this it is critical that we are connected in every sense and that includes easy accessibility for business people travelling across the Atlantic. As Ireland continues to attract new investment from both existing companies and from the next wave of exciting start-ups it is more critical than ever that we have a direct air routes with adequate capacity.
"The American Chamber had consistently called for the introduction of direct flights to the US west coast. The success of and "at-capacity" demand for the San Francisco/Dublin route, which commenced in April 2014 underlines the need for this link between Silicon Valley and Dublin, which is seen as the digital capital of Europe. The announcement today of an additional West Coast route is a further welcome development. Improving our connectivity improves our competitiveness, with the potential to help Ireland win further FDI investments in the future."
