American Chamber of Commerce USA v Europe Golf Classic 2010 in association with Delta Air Lines

One of the most prestigious corporate golf events of the year will take place on 22nd September 2010 at Powerscourt Golf Club.  Teams drawn to represent Europe and the USA will do battle on the Championship East Course, at the 4th American Chamber of Commerce USA v Europe Golf Classic in association with Delta Air Lines.

The competition will be based on a mock Ryder Cup format with corporate members of the American Chamber of Commerce drawn to play for Europe and America. Each continent will be captained by former Ryder Cup Players - Christy O'Connor Jnr. and Eamonn Darcy. Designated teams will play for each continent and the combined stableford points of each player will determine the winning continent.

Joanne Richardson, Chief Executive of the American Chamber of Commerce, said, "It's a bi-annual golf classic which we inaugurated in 2004 to coincide with The Ryder Cup. All players who sign up really get into the spirit of the event with practice rounds being organised by the teams and because of the unique format there is great excitement on the day. Europe will be defending their title for the third time running this year although I have no doubt America will be pulling out all the stops to take it from them."

The mock Ryder Cup format will be evident throughout the day.  Guests will be sporting their team colours, red for the USA and blue for Europe.  It will be a team event in true Ryder Cup tradition with every card counting towards the winning score.  The winning Continent will be rewarded with the honour of a specially commissioned perpetual cup. There will be a much coveted replica cup for each of the top 8 players on the winning continent.

Siobhan Scanlon, Delta Sales Manager Ireland in, commented "We are delighted to be associated with such a celebrated and exciting event in Irish golfing".

Bernard Gibbons General Manager of Powerscourt said that, "It will be played on our championship East course that previously held the Irish PGA Championship & the European Senior tour so whichever continent wins will certainly have earned the right to raise the Cup."

At the time of going to print there were a couple of places still available so if you want to take part in this unique event contact events@amcham.ie for further information.
