Chamber launches Social Impact Report

A new report published by the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland which researched the social impact A of US investment in Ireland has shown that US companies supported 7,300 community projects nationwide last year, including initiatives in the areas of education, sport, health, STEM, culture, homelessness, social justice and inclusion. Entitled ‘Beyond Business – The Social Impact of US Investment in Ireland’ the research, conducted by the University of Notre Dame on behalf of the American Chamber, with support from AIB, also shows that 52,150 staff at US companies are engaged in CSR. In total, the research shows employees of US companies gave over 603,237 work supported volunteer hours last year.

Chamber welcomes 12.5% tax rate & measures announced in Budget 2017

The American Chamber strongly welcomed the commitment in Budget 2017 to investment and employment with a package of measures aimed at sustaining investor confidence and protecting against risks to the economy arising from Brexit uncertainty. The American Chamber welcomed the Minister’s restatement that Ireland’s corporation tax rate will remain at 12.5%, a cornerstone of Ireland's enterprise policy for many years and partly responsible for attracting over 700 US companies creating 140,000 jobs here.

Following his meeting with the Board of The American Chamber of Commerce in the Maryborough Hotel, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, T.D., was welcomed to the Chamber’s Annual Cork Business Lunch, attended by over 320 American Chamber and Cork business community members. US Ambassador to Ireland, Mr. Kevin O’Malley was also welcomed to the event by Bob Savage, President of the American Chamber.

Statement on the EU State Aid Decision

The EU Commission today has announced its decision in relation to its investigation relating to whether or not certain interactions between the Irish authorities and Apple amounted to State aid. In its announcement, the Commission has explicitly stated that “this decision does not call into question Ireland's general tax system or its corporate tax rate”.
