There are over 700 US companies operating in Ireland. That number has steadily increased over the last few years. And so too has the number of people in direct employment at US firms, which now stands at nearly 150,000.

2016 Investment Highlights
In September 2016, US companies announced 1,300 jobs and over €260m worth of investment across the country in Limerick, Cork, Galway, Waterford, Ballina and Drogheda. Among the announcements was GE Heathcare’s €150 million investment in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing campus in Ringaskiddy creating 500 jobs.
In Dublin, highlight investments in 2016 included: Amazon (500 jobs), Oracle (450) and Hubspot (320).
But it has not just been large US companies who are investing. Ireland is clearly an attractive location for start-ups too. In November 2016, six US high growth companies announced investments in Ireland. The Chamber is supporting this critical sector through our Emerging FDI mentorship programme.
US companies continue to invest...
Microsoft today announced that it is to hire 600 people, significantly increasing its commitment to Ireland. Following the selection of Dublin as the location for one of four global Inside Sales Centres.

Indeed, the world’s largest job site, announced expansion plans for its Dublin-based headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), adding 500 new employees over the next two years.

Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, plans to invest €12.7M in a new project, committing to create up to 60 jobs in Waterford over four years.

Waters Corporation officially opened a new site expansion at their state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly facilities in Wexford.
EVO Payments International, a leading card payment service provider operating throughout North America and Europe, has announced the creation of 50 new jobs and the opening of a new Irish headquarters as part of a €9.1 million investment in the Irish market.
